Conceptual map on the African state of Nigeria (geography, middle school, third grade). Nigeria is the most populous country in Africa. It borders Benin, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon and faces the Atlantic Ocean. It is a federal presidential republic. The territory features mountainous areas in the central-north and plains in the south. Among the main reliefs are Mount Cameroon and the Jos Plateau. The most important rivers are the Niger and the Benue, while among the main lakes are Chad and Kainji. The climate varies from arid in the north to equatorial on the coast. The population is multi-ethnic and uses many languages, although English is the official language. The economy is based on agriculture, mineral resources, oil, hydroelectric power, and forest exploitation.
