ARCTIC AND ANTARCTIC

This concept map about the polar regions explains the main features of the Arctic and Antarctica. The Arctic includes the floating ice covering the North Pole and extends across northern Siberia, Alaska, Canada, and Greenland. Much of the Arctic lies over the sea, and its ice is currently shrinking. Indigenous peoples live in this region, and the ecosystem includes animals such as polar bears, reindeer, and seals, with tundra landscapes. Antarctica, on the other hand, is the coldest continent on Earth, entirely covered by a thick ice sheet with very little snowfall. It contains the largest freshwater reserve on the planet and supports marine ecosystems with penguins, whales, fish, and seals.
