Concept map on the ARCHEAN EON (History, Primary School). The Archean Eon is the oldest period in Earth's history, from 5 billion to 600 million years ago.
During the Archean eon, the Earth's surface cools and the oceans form. The first living beings appear in the water, very simple unicellular organisms such as bacteria and algae.
Some join together forming more complex and differentiated multicellular organisms. Thanks to organisms that produce oxygen, the atmosphere begins to form.
The Archean Eon is the first of the five geological eras.
